Woman fractures foot on broken FOB
MUMBAI: A 45-year-old woman commuter fell off a broken staircase of a foot over-bridge at Mulund station and fractured her foot. Security personnel told the woman, Kanchan Zinge, that a few other commuters too had slipped off the broken step and suffered injuries.
Zinge, a Thane resident, works at an exports firm and regularly takes a train from Mulund for office.

Around 9.30am on Tuesday, while rushing to board a fast train, she slipped on the FOB on platform 4. "The fourth step was broken. Co-passengers helped me get up and sit on a nearby bench," Zinge told TOI.
"Initially, I thought that I had lost balance. But then I saw that the step was broken," she said. Zinge then alerted RPF officers at the station and they helped her get onto another train. At that point, she did not know that her leg was fractured.
On reaching Dadar, she got off and managed to reach office. When the pain became unbearable, she saw a doctor and an X-ray revealed a foot fracture. "As there is a lot of swelling, I have been advised to not put a cast and take rest for 10 days," she said.
"This has cost me and the railways is not going to offer any compensation," she said. An RPF official said he was aware of the broken step and that it had been mended now.
